The author covers the topics of consciousness and death following his own Near Death Experience in 2021. During this event he found himself in a vertical well looking upards. “Three known figures (none of which was a family member) offered to help me climb. Without words, I kindly refused. I was not afraid, but calmly aware.”
We are not talking about mere anecdotes that can be casually dismissed. The plural of anecdote is data. Thousands of accounts by people from different backgrounds consistently point in the same direction, as health professionals also attest.

In this short reflective article, Gomex-Martin speculates on the origins of consciousness and the clinical evidence that could support the veridical nature of Near Death Experiences as well as urging sceptics to suspend their prejudices and biases when examining the existential question of the meaning of death.
